Vintage 1957 10hp Johnson Seahorse Excellent Operating Condition in Olney, MD

For sale is one [removed phone]hp Johnson Seahorse Model # QD-18, Ser# [removed phone]. This outboard motor is in excellent operating condition. I took the pictures on Tuesday Jan 10. I had the motor running this past Sunday Jan 8 on Lake Marburg in PA. This motor came with a 14' Jon Boat I purchased five years ago. The previous owner stated that the motor spent most of its life in freshwater. I had no reason not to believe him because there is very little corrosion on this motor. When I purchased the boat and motor, I took the motor for a tune up and new impeller installed. The mechanic that worked on the motor had his doubts but was soon amazed by the outstanding compression of this motor. I have used this motor for crabbing and fishing, in and out of freshwater and brackish water, for five years. Other than an occasional broken pull cord that can be bypassed and started with a rope, the motor has never failed me. I have given this motor TLC from day one, lubricated the lower unit and winterized yearly. The motor is kept in my garage when not in use. Last year the original propeller final gave in. So last year the motor went for service. The propeller was replaced, new impeller installed, new pull cord, and tune up. This time a different mechanic worked on the motor. Again the mechanic was amazed by the outstanding operating condition of this motor. In addition to the motor, I have the original gas tank in excellent condition. I did sand and spray with primer two years ago to help stop the start of rust. In fact there is little or no corrosion on the tank to speak of. The inside of the tank is pristine. A nice restoration paint job on both the motor and tank would bring this outboard to showroom condition. I have a carbon-copy of the original owner's manual that goes with this sale. I also have extra starter pawls, shear pins, and backup emergency pull cord. I hate to part with this motor because it has been so faithful, but I bought a larger boat and need a larger motor. I hope this motor finds a great home. It served my family crabbing and fishing expeditions very well over the years. I always get inquires at the marina about her age and turned many crabber and fisherman heads. This motor has much life left with the proper care and maintenance.
